    Description

    THE RIVER NIGER
    by Joseph Walker
opened in New York in 1973, won the Tony Award as Best Play, played a respectable run on Broadway and then toured nationally and internationally. The original cast featured, among others, Frances Foster and Douglas Turner Ward. THE RIVER NIGER won the Tony Award as Best Play. It is a surging drama about a Harlem family whose son returns home from Air Force deployment. And, because of his association with a radical group, he brings the politics and strife of South Africa right to his family's doorstep. The window card is in excellent condition with a barely perceptible bend of no more than 1/8" at upper left corner. Very small nick near bottom left corner. The card bears the faintest traces of pink in the center white area. This is not an acquired flaw but rather a minor printing glitch in which the red ink spilled over -- hardly noticeable. The back of the card is virtually flawless. This window card announces the two week stopover of THE RIVER NIGER at the Morris Mechanic Theatre in Baltimore. Window cards for this play have become quite scarce.
