    Description

    Beautiful, large Grace Putnam Bye Lo baby-possibly a kit doll.   The doll measures 19" long from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet.  She has a cloth body which is clean, but does look to be newer.  The body has a tag that reads "Made Exclusively for you by Janice".  She is wearing a blue christening type dress with underclothes and a bonnet.  The clothing does need cleaned.
    The head and hands are bisque.  There are no chips or breaks or cracks on the bisque.
    The back of neck is marked "Copr by Grace S. Putnam Made in Germany" as shown.  The doll has brown glass inset eyes.
    I do not know the age of the head.  It is a larger head, measuring slightly over 5" tall.  The hands are approximately 2.25" long.  The right hand needs to be reattached to the cloth body as the stitching has loosened.  The flat edge of the hand is marked with an incised "JP".
    The facial detailing (hair, eyelashes, eyebrows, lips) are handpainted.  The nails on the hands are also handpainted.
    I am no doll expert.  The eyes are nicely made, but I do not know of the date of this doll.  I cannot ascertain if the head and hands are older and attached to a newer cloth body.
